Our mission is to inspire appreciation and stewardship of whales and our marine environment by establishing a network of viewing sites along the whales' trails through Puget Sound and the coastal waters of the Pacific Northwest.
The Whale Trail will consist of a series of marked locations around northwest waters where the public may view orcas, other marine mammals and wildlife.
Each site will include an iconic marker, informational signage, and community artwork. The Whale Trail locations will also be published in a printed map and on a website. The Whale Trail will be accomplished in three phases, to be completed by 2013.
The Whale Trail will provide simple and powerful reminders to visitors and residents alike that orcas and other whales live in our waters.
We will partner with groups, agencies, individuals and communities around the region to select and develop The Whale Trail sites, and to create and deliver our long-term educational and stewardship programs.
